recommended pump timing?

Can any of you folks recommend a good setting given the stuff in my sig? I have it set at 17 degrees now, which is what I lowered it to when I installed the cam. But since the gasket popped anyways, Im looking to bump the timing up some more.
I gained about .005 in the squish area when I had the head decked and put in the gasket so I think my compression is a little lower. I wouldnt expect anything noticeable but I did have to tweak the AFC for some more fuel to get the same take-off power.
Raising the timing would raise the cylinder pressures and hopefully help with power and smoke on the low end.
20 to 22 degrees sound like craziness to you?

i have heard from some guys on another fourm say that you dont really want to go over 20* with ddp injectors... something to do with their spray pattern/angle.

Thats some good info. So the spray pattern has a preference for timing? Im not sure if my DDP2's are any different, but I do intend to upgrade in the future.

i believe ddp uses all the same nozzles just different size hloes so your 2's should be the same pattern.

FWIW, you gained an extra .020" in compression height when you put the .020" gasket in, which is a full point loss in compression. Also, generally raising the timing raises the power band up. You might want to look into dropping it down a bit. But the loss of compression is the big reason you have lost bottom end.
