R&R water pump

Sory if this sounds stupid. But my water pump just went out on my 92 12v @ 197k. I am very capable of doing the swap myself. This is my 4th dodge diesel I have done turbos, injection pumps, exhausts and such just not a water pump. Even my 97 with 300k on it didn't need one. I just want to ask is it really that easy? About how long will it take start to finish and is there any tricks or tools I should know about? And will a aftermarket pump be ok or should I go with Mopar?
I will be doing the swap this weekend, so any suggestions would be great.
Thank you all for your time,
Phil

No special tricks, or tips as I forsee. Take the belt off, take out the two 13mm, or 14mm bolts and its as easy as pie!

I just changed mine on my 96. Not sure if your is the same. Mine is bolted on with 2 bolts. Remove belt, remove bolts and pull pump out. You may have to hit it with a mallet or stick and mallet to break the hold.

Installing the pump you have to hold it while aligning the bolt holes and inserting the bolts. I used a long stick to press against and hold the pump with one hand while I used an awl to find and align the hole with the other hand. Take an hour or less no rush. I used an Auto Zone pump with lifetime warranty.

One of the easiest jobs you'll ever do on these trucks.

I second that. A lot easier then the fuel filter on the 12V. I bought mine from Cummins West and it was $30 cheaper then thru Dodge.

I suggest a coat of paint before you install it. Mine was bare when I installed it and new its rusty. Sticks out like a sore thumb!

Thanks again. I put it in this weekend. Nothing to it. Autozone pump $45.00 45 min install. Dodge quoted $450.00. Cost me $80.00 with coolant.

Thanks again, Phil
