pedal kicking back
pedal kicking back
Had to hit the brakes suddenly today and the rear locked up. All of a sudden it breaks free with no pressure difference from my foot and the brake pedal kicked back up toward me and clunked. Any ideas why I would experience that?

Scared the crap outta me the first time my ABS kicked in during my first panic stop in the truck,
thought I broke something for sure.

Ok thats what I needed to know. Just hadnt happened before so it caught me off guard. I just put tires on that are alot more narrow than the 12.50's I had and the braking is night and day, better of course, other than that little scare. No more wobble either when braking. Rides like a Caddy!
I put on narrower tires a few months back and am also enjoying a smoother ride. One thing I've noticed though is that imperfections in the road, like the tracks that seem like someone drove in fresh asphalt, tend to pull me around more than they did with wider tires.
Are you noticing this also?

infidel, I havnt noticed anything like that as of yet, but that could just be because I havnt driven a road like that with these tires. Everything is much better as far as Im concerned. Those 12.50's grabbed everything and I felt everything and these tires seem to be made my angels as far as I can tell, so nice a quiet and smooth!
Infidel, I don't believe the wander is because the tires are narrower, but because of the particular tire construction. My previous BFG Longtrails had no wander, but my new BFG Commercials (same stock size and a great deal at $106 each at Costco) require frequent correction.
Im running uniroyals and they seem to be ok for now, problem is the guy I traded my wheels and tires with got these from the dealer when he bought his 2000 and they put on P's instead of LT's so I dont know how well they are going to hold up while towing. The dont have a load rating on the side but say something like 2600 or so pounds max. Need to get some different tires.
