overheating towing w/ new radiator
thank you wccruzer, went with am cobalt. to save money im going to mount them in that opeaning were the drink holder is .allways forget not to use it. drinks fall out- big mess
id stick a temp gun or aftermarket temp gauge on it to compare it w factory gauge. your fan clutch will always slip jus a lil bit. even when "locked" it will technically slip a few rpms. is your temp light coming on as well. if i recall correctly the pcm has a different sensor than the gauge and if you can find some one who can connect a scan tool to the truck and see what the PCM is seeing that wud be another thing to try
if the trans is a question you may try a temp gauge for it and a nice size aftermarket cooler possibly w an electric fan mounted on it. also you said you replaced the water pump a year ago...are you assuming its still good or have you physically checked the coolant flow? i know a guy that went thru 3 water pumps inside of 10 months....i think he ran into a bad batch or somethin like that. also wanting to verify that your fan shroud is present and in tact.
the trans is only a question becouse , location of heat exchanger.lots of compounded heat. eng block, 1200 deg turbo exhaust &manifold.when pullin a hill everything is building heat add desert 100+ temps doesnt every thing work against it self w/ exchanger?.coolant flow is turbulant, hav a shroud and that fan moves more air than anything ive seen.trans cooler is a great idea . ill check how much $.i need coolant in temp & coolant out temp on a truck that is not having cooling problems to eliminate nu radiator .thank you for your reply.
