out with the muffler
hi guys im new to this forum and i was wondering if i can get some help or your opinions for my situation.
i have a 95 2500 stock no upgrades at all. i've seen many diesel trucks with either straight pipes or stacks, well i dont have the kind of money to do either so what i wanted to do after i took a good look at my exhaust was to maybe cut out the muffler and then just couple the two pieces back together with another piec of pipe. will this work, sound like a straight pipe, or is it not recommended?

that would be fine for the truck, you might even want to remove the resignator to drop egts a little more. but save it if you do some inspection shops require some type of resignator

cut the muffler and res out. then put a piece of 3" in there, it costs about 35.00 or so. then you have a straight pipe since there is only straight piping and no muffler. i don't think anything could have an acutal straight pipe anyhow since nobody wants the pipe to run through their cab.

Um, it's a 95... that's most likely a cat not a resonator.
You can just drop the muffler- I ran mine that way for years- it's a bit louder but not bad. The CAT is a huge restriction and you legally can't remove it....
There are performance cats for diesels now, and the cans look a lot like certain mufflers also produced by the same company.....
You know, in case you need to add the muffler and want to upgrade the cat...
