SMR is a company out of canada, cost depends on the year 94-98 is about 149 USD, the 1998.5-2002 is about 163 USD. I like it better because you use valving to aviod the trouble/check engine light instead of a .20 resistor, which will burn out over time. The shift points seem to be much better. The 1-2 shift is about 10-12MPH instead of 2-3. The 2-3 is also higher. Parts are very nice quality. I have done a few SMR units now and they just work really well. Ask mike-D I did his this weekend.

But this is America and that is just my opinion!! To each his own, and I am not trying to "bash" anybodies product, I like SMR.

No feeling hurt here . I was just curious, as ive never heard of SMR before. Also, my transgo doesent use a resistor since i have the 47rh tranny, so i dont have to wory about that happening. Thanks.

Mcmopar, any difference in install on the smr? Easier or tougher than the transgo? Seems to me there was alot of discussion about smr about 8 to 12 months ago. Seems it was all positive regarding the smr. I'll see if I can dig up the info. Kevin

Both are about the same "difficulty" level, there is no soldering with the SMR kit. Depending on the year of the truck using the Trans-Go kit you need to install the resistor

i called transgo today and they told me there really isn't a diff between tfod-hd2 and tfod-diesel. he said the hd2 is for the gas motors and the diesel rigs. he said when i am done with the shift kit the only thing that will be left over is the parts for the gas jobs. whew i thought i bought the wrong shift kit. he did recomend a synthetic fluid along with the shift kit.

So if I install a Transgo, I can choose to keep it in od/lockup all the time? Im looking for someway to get some smoke from the auto. I know you can get stuff for smoke, ive read about all of it, but I just turned the star wheel, so it smokes before the turbo spools. So with the Transgo, can I keep it locked and lug the engine for some smoke? Or do I not have the right understanding?

No. You cant do it with the transgo itself, but if you install a TC lockup switch, it will, and youll have all the smoke you can make when you lug it in overdrive, and its rolling it out . All you need is a 3 dollar toggle switch and some wire.I love mine. You can find instructions on TST.
