Newbie here

Hello out there in oil burnin cyberspace. I am a newbie to this forum. I own a '96 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 w/CTD and automatic with 135,000 miles on it. I bought it new in '96 and always loved it. I've just gotten the serious modding bug. Wish I had some more money trees for this hobby ! I just ordered a MotoBlue 5" exhaust system. Plan on beefiing up my tranny next with a BD valve body, BD pressure-loc and a TCI convertor and auxilliary filter. Then I can get serious with torque/throttle plates, injectors, inj pump mods, turbo mods maybe an Airdog (would that (Airdog or FASS) help a 12v much?). I currently have a K&N but learned I need to ditch it and get a BHAF. Also pretty soon I am interested in adding a pre-luber and Amsoil bypass filter kit. Also I want to do a lot with lighting. I've been on the Dodge Truck World forum about a month stumbled on this great looking site. Also will probably join the TDR site soon as i get into more technical issues. Great to be here !

Welcome to DTR. Save your money and skip joining TDR. I was thinking the same thing when I joined this site 4 years ago. Anything you'll ever want or need to know you'll find here. There's a vast amount of knowledge and people anxious to help.

Nobody ever gets flamed or dissed for asking even the most basic questions. The mods do a super job of enforcing the rules and it works. This is by far the best run forum I've ever belonged to.

You might want to fill in your signature with your truck, mods and future plans. It'll save you from typing it ever time you've got a question.

Let me join in with the other DTR Members and say; "Welcome to a Great Website!"

I agree with DTR Member "berner" that this is the best diesel website and I have been in alot of them, including TDR.

It sounds like you are on the right track in BOMBING (better off modified baby ) your 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve. You are smart by beefing up that transmission first. Good job there! Like you, I bought my 1996 Dodge CTD new also and still have it although I have done EXTENSIVE mods to mine as you can see in my signature below! You asked about installing a FASS or Airdog Fuel Pusher Pump in your 96'. IMO,....for minor mods, I don't think you really need to do that. I would suggest adding a good quality fuel pressure gauge to monitor your FP readings. You should see about 28-30 lbs at idle and never below 22 lbs. at say WOT. The fuel systems on the 1996-1998.5 12 valve trucks (P7100 Pump, mechanical fuel pump etc.) are very reliable and troublefree.

Anyway,.... welcome aboard! If there is anything I can do for you or if you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I know that goes for all of the DTR Members too.

Take care and good luck to you!
