Need power/low power

just got truck a month ago. Truck just lacks power. its bone stock. i think its had the pump replaced. i just don't have much power in 3 and 4th gear. its a dog. i need to get this things some power. does anyone know where any good shops are in houston tx good with 12 valves.

Specs on said truck?
Check or have the timing checked and set where you want it. 16* seems to be the normally suggested number.
Fuel system? Leak check and filter service.
It won't be a powerhouse in stock trim, but it shouldn't be a complete turd either.

Make sure it's running correctly before you try to add power to overcome the problem.

It's also good to check for boost leaks. Often on the older trucks you can have small nicks in the rubber coupler-things (technical term) that leak quite a bit of air. When I sold my '92 and bought my 2000 truck I just bought a complete set of silicone ones and replaced all of them.

Definitely agree on the pump timing.

Although you are correct. They are rubber coupler-things!

i also agree with the intercooler boots do you hear a sort of blowing air noise when u really get into it....if so check the boots they usually rub through only because they sit so tight to the fender wells
