Need Fuel Shutoff Help

Ok, with the help of some of the members in the "Emergency" board (thanks guys) I have figured out that the fuel shutoff system in my '94 2500 12V ate it. I'm pretty much looking for the cheapest way to fix this next to doing the choke cable shutoff. I've got a few questions about fixing this problem:

Considering that the truck shuts down fine but won't start, could this problem be just the relay or is the solenoid shot?

If I replace the solenoid should I replace the relay also?

Should I replace the relay first to see if it clears the problem up?

Is there a rebuild kit for the solenoid or do I have to get the entire thing? (I.E.- do I need -->THIS<-- or will -->THIS<-- work?)

If I install the new one myself, how hard will it be to adjust?

Essentially I'm asking how I should go about all this. Sorry for the long list. Any help is appreciated.

I would replace the relay first. There might be another under the hood somewhere, that you could swap out for testing the system.

Check your wires at the battery .....theres a blue wire that corrodes and can cause problems with the shutdown solenoid

if you end up having to get a new solenoid, get one off ebay, they have woodward ones for good price.

Pappy, I owe you BIG! Turns out it was the wire. Truck starts great now. But I'm gonna start keeping an eye out for a new solenoid cheap just so I have one incase it would decide to go out. Thanks, again guys!

You may end up keeping the "spare" for a long, long time. They rarely fail.

Baja is right. As long as you keep your starter contacts in good shape and don't overheat the solenoid it will easily last the life of the truck. Keeping the boot in good shape will also eliminate problems.

If you have to buy a new one I know where to get them for 110 plus shipping. Don't buy one off ebay.
