Question Need diagnostic advice on 95 model for a friend

Hey 12 valve guys, need some diagnostic help for my friends 95 model. He says

"It cranks and runs good when cold, then when going down the road it starts missing and starts going in and out of O.D. - then quits. It will crank right back up, acts like it runs out of fuel and quit again. Then it will crank back up an run good, then in a couple of weeks, then does same thing again."

Only has 150K miles services it good. All I knew to think of was L.Pump and fuel filter. He said lift pump was replaced 6 years ago at a Dealership, and he had changed the fuel filter less than 10 miles ago. I guess I would drain canister and change fuel filter first, then check lift pump.

What do you guys think??????? Thanks for any help, he is also my HVAC guy. I would like to help him if I could. He is a really good man and takes pride in his work. He fixed my home A/C couple years ago when I was laid up in hosp. and not working, and only charged me for the parts.

Personally, I think you are not looking at an engine problem, but rather an intermittent electrical supply problem.

That would explain the in and out of OD and quitting. Those two should be unrelated I would think, especially with a RH.

I guess to be sure I would rig a fuel pressure gauge and watch it while it was screwing up to be sure.

No, ground to shutdown solenoid is intermittent.
If it's intermittent you'll never figure it out with a meter.
You could try a jumper from the battery negative to the ground wire at the solenoid and see if the problem persists.

I had the same problem with my 94.
I would check the fuel delivery chambers for scouring
in the injector pump
