motor side plates
While installing my new overflow valve, I noticed my side plate for the motor looked warped or caved in a little. So I look in the repair manual and could not find anything on it. Is this an access hole or what? Anyone have a clue? Thanks

Not sure what you are working on, but if it's a 2nd gen , that should be insulation for noise supression. They do warp with age and heat. The hole should be the access hole for the lifter cover bolts.

I guess I should have stated what I was working on. Well it is a 1994. The plates are warped, but not leaking. I was just curious to what was behind them. So I have nothing to worry about then? Thanks

we pulled a injection pump on one. we were for sure we were looking at a warped side cover and the truck was leaking a bunch of oil. after we pulled the pump and got a good look at it, it was just the insulation warped on the out side of the cover. the oil was coming from the tdc pin that disappeared.
