killer dowel pin kit

hey guys & gals
been reading the forums for a few weeks & have a question.
I see where TST sells a kdp kit; does anyone know how or where to buy the kit that phantom cycle offers? I haven't seen on their web page anything about how to acquire the kit they show. I'm about ready to dig into mine , & would like to use their kit. Thanks!

Why not just go with the TST kit? Good people, good kit, $ well spent.

You must also read Diesel Power magazine as there was quite an article (with MANY pics) in there about this very subject. Scary title but even scarier if it could happen to your truck. Good luck on that, that looks to be quite a job...

I bought the TST kit but if I would do it over I would just go to Cummins and buy the Crank, and Timing cover seal and make my own washer for the pin (or buy one from Cummins). I think the cost of the TST kit is a little high for what it is. I personally don't like using Permatex for my timing cover. I don't want my Cummins leaking like a Detroit.

Man, that is more work than just taking the cover off and tabbing it!

That sure looks like the TDR style KDP jig to me.

I bought a tab and longer bolt from Cummins. They cost $2.00. The gasket and seal kit were a little more ($63.00)

That was a good article, with good pictures.

Another +1 for the TST kit.

Used PDR kit with the housing gasket. Tab is wimpy and wished bolt was longer but it worked. Probably would have used Cummins bolt and tab if doing over as bolt is said to be longer and tab is beefier.

I made a tab out of a SawZaw blade and used the stock bolt. I also got the gasket and seal from a local Cummins dealer thats also were I get almost every thing for mine they are the right parts and they are cheeper than anywere else that I have found so far. I have a templet for the tab if you want one I made a bunch of copys in case someone needed one. ( This is not an ad its for free just to help if you want it) Also check and locktight all the case bolts while you have the cover off. I had 3 that were about to fall out, same thing as the pin falling out if its the right one.

Got my TST kit for $48.00 and priority shipping. Had it in two days. I am not a RTV gasket type person, so I got a gasket from cummins for $27.37, and a engine barring tool $38.63 while I was there.

I dont think the TST kit is over priced, it comes with the front crank seal and seal guide sleeve and great instructions with color illustrations.

Now I have to find the time this week to git-r-done, and I will sleep better at night with that out of the way.

IMO well worth the price.
