IAT Sensor Voltage

Does anyone know the voltage levels for the IAT sensor on a 95??

I'm trying to do something fancy with it, just need to see if the output range is correct!

Thanks,
Chris

Does it even have one? I thought the pump was purely mechanical, the only electrical component is the shutoff solanoid.

Yep, it has an IAT sensor for the grid heaters.

The factory service manual only lists the resistance at different temps.
A partial list:

-40F = 291,490 - 381,710 ohms
32F = 29,330 - 35,990
77F = 9,120 - 10,880
230F = 480 - 540

The chart has the resistance for every 10C if the above isn't enough.

OK, Great. Thanks Bill!! I forgot about the FSM I have sitting here. Did you get those values from pg 14-148??

Judging from that chart, the IAT and Tranny Temp sensors have the same output range, Right?

If it does, I'm in business!!

Yep 14-148.
Looks like the coolant temp is the same also. Got me wondering if the sensors are interchangeable. I seem to recall them all having the same thread.
What the heck kind of project do you have going Chris?

I've mounted an Xmonitor on my stering column, and am trying to use the IAT sensor to monitor IAT instead of monitor automatic tranny temp, which I obviously don't have.

I think I need to call BD, though, the Xmonitor doesn't have a setting for 1994-1998, only 1996-1998. If I set it for 96-98 tranny temp I get readings of +300*F, which seem a bit high. But at the same time, I can't see Dodge using a different sensor on 94-95's than on 96-98...but it is Dodge, so .

Right now I have it set for "Universal" and I'm getting readings of 70-85*F which seem too cool to me.

Does anyone know what kind of temperatures I can expect to see at the manifold?

I think I'm gonna end up having to buy a sensor compatible with the Xmonitor, but we'll see.

I use my AT temp gauge with a toggle to switch to IAT with a sender tapped into the air horn. My intake temps are almost always 20F higher than the outside temp unless the A/C is on then it will be about 50° higher.
Your 70-85° readings would be right in the ballpark if your outside temps were 50-65°.
Ideal IAT is 50-90F for maximum engine efficiency. I have more trouble in the winter reaching this range than I do the rest of the year having it go over.

Outside temps are 80*+, so I think it's still a bit off. I'll probably call BD tomorrow sometime and see if they can help me out.

If not, I'll order a sender that I can use!

Thanks Again for all your help, Bill.

Chris, I'm thinking the reason for the off reading could be caused if you hooked up to the stock IAT sensor while it is still connected to the grid system.
Don't know if this is what you did but you might try connecting the sensor only to your X-M. Of course then you would lose your grids and throw a code.
My bet is the best solution is to buy a sensor from B-D and tap it into the airhorn like I did.

I'm pretty sure that's the way I'm gonna end up going.

I may even run a switch so I can monitor a couple different temps on the same gauge, too.
