I got fuel Issues

I was driving to work today, and the truck startef losing power, wouldnt make any boost, then just idled down and shut off, changed the filter but couldnt get fuel back to the filter, It has fuel in the tank for sure, I am going to try and put a electric one inle to check the lift pump, any other ideas? but it wont get fuel up to the filter so I am suspecting the lift pump thanks

could be bad fuel line going to the lift pump. Sucking air so you cant get a prime. If you havnt already changed both feed and return lines I would do it. It is a common problem. I am not saying that it isnt the lift pump. It could be. Its just not all that common for the lift pumps on the 12 valves to go out unless you have high milage. Have you had to crank it a lot to get it to start up to now or has it always started with very little cranking. If it has been taking a good amount of cranking in the mornings that is a sign that there is an air leak in a hose letting the fuel flow back to the tank . Then you have to crank it a lot to pull the fuel back up from the tank.

The lift pumps in these trucks are pretty darn reliable but it is not out of the question that you are having problems with it. Was the truck hard to start at all before this problem started?

I would suspect either a bad lift pump or an air leak between the tank and the pump. The truck should run but be gutless with a failing lift pump. It is probably worth crawling around and looking for fuel leaking somewhere first. If you have compressed air and a friend, you could pressurize your fuel tank to 5psi or so and see whether there were any leaks from that. You could try putting in a clear section of fuel line for testing purposes just to see whether you have air. You could also try hooking up a fuel pressure gauge. Just remember that anytime you open your fuel system, it can be really hard to bleed if you have an air leak. It sometimes takes putting a little pressure on your fuel tank.

Good luck.

I looked around last night, no holes in the supply lines, I also put an electric fuel pump before the lift pump and pulled fuel through the lines, it primed quick, then I connected the discharge of the electric pump to the lift pump and pushed fuel through it and bleed the air out of the fuel filter, tonight I am going to bleed the injector lines and see if I cant get it to start. before when everything was hooked up normal I couldnt get any fuel to the filter. so Ill keep you posted thanks for the help, and my fuel shutoff solenoid is working
