That all sounds fine to me for that weight. Boost elbow may help flow more air in if you haven't done that yet. Also, I think a 10 plate would be more forgiving while towing, sliding your plate back could help a bit. I just don't run a plate any more and I back out of it/downshift once they're going over 1300 for more then 10 seconds or so. Temps climb alot quicker under 2k rpm, or over 2700 (for me).

Before I lost my built 2006 Duramax in the recession it always sat around 1100-1250 when pulling on stage 5, no harm was ever done and the CTD is much stronger engine. My current 12V is set up much like yours, I never have added a gauge as I doubt the stock injectors can get me over 1350. I also pull crazy weight- I fill a 20' flat bed with a Hitachi EX60 and my John Deere 855 4x4 tractor- around 18,000 just on the trailer axles and pull it up a 18% climb from 1000' up to 8,000' in elevation. up to where we dig watering holes for game, I really should get a video but Im always to white knuckled to remember to snag a few sweet videos for this form. I pull it in 2nd gear Unlocked (only choice) with the truck never breaking 20mph but my foot to the floor at 2800 rpm with the pump starting to de-fuel so im sure the EGT cannot be that high with zero smoke

The way to tell if your egts are high if you don't want to install a pyro is to watch for sparks or even flames coming out of your tailpipe at night as your pistons erode away.
Piston crown melting can take years bit by bit till it finally catches up with you when it finally eats down to a ring.

my truck has 4.10 gears so once i kick it out of over drive it tops out at like 45 but yes it does lower the egt but i just really want to have lower egts and my truck has stock injectors and i can peg my pyro out at 16000 all day long has any one heard of good luck with water/meth injection or twin turbos

If you really want to use more power then it will take more air to keep it cool! So either a boost elbow (if not done already) or if you want to spend some money, water/meth is a easy way to get egt's down. Twins aren't nearly as easy even if you use the stock charger, and will realistically require at the very least re-torqued head bolts, but are the ***** for towing.

You got a GSK in that truck?
