If you're getting nowhere pumping try opening the bleed screw then pressureizing the tank though the fill spout with an air nozzle wrapped in a rag. Don't get carried away 5 psi is plenty.

I replaced the filter prescreen. It looked pretty clean.

Being this is my daily driver I dont really have the time to replace all the fuel lines right now. I gave it up and took it to the dealer. They called me back and said they were going to replace the lift pump and see if thats it. Only cost $700!! **** its been so long since I have had somebody work on my vehicles. I remember now why I do.

How much does the lift pump cost?

Sweet idea on pressurizing the tank. Wish I would have known that trick before I started.

I will post up if they find anything other then the lift pump. Hopefully thats all it is because I dont think I could afford a new injection pump.

how many miles??? The lift pumps last a long long time on the 12V's....they rarely are the problem. Id never let a dealer do a job like this. What happens if you spend the $700 and its still not the problem?? Youd be better off to take it to Cummins to get a correct diagnosis.

105k miles It pretty much a done deal. Hopefully they know what they are doing. I should know by tonight.

Last time I bought a 12 valve lift pump from Napa it was $69

Got the truck back today. Ended up being the lift pump. $700 total $350 for parts $350 for labor. Hind sight I should have done it myself. Just glad to have my truck back and running though

WOW!!!!! That's pretty steep!!! Flat rate time for a fuel pump on a 94 is a wopping 1/2 hour. What else did they do? The fuel pump price at the dealer is around $235.

Yeah I thought it was steep as F too. Pump was close to $235. I also needed a water in fuel sensor ($40) then they continue to rape me by charging for shop tools or wipes or whatever they call it ($25) and then charged me for some hose and other small things.

On the reciept they didnt say how many hours they just put the charge (~$350) I was curious of how many hours they put into it. I am sure they would just say it was all troubleshooting time.

Bottom line.... this is why I work on all my rigs myself. You always get raped. I was prepared for it. I knew taking it to the dealer would be $$$$. Lesson learned.

at least your problem is cured......rare that the LP is a problem on a 12V though.
