govenor arm ?

hey anyone got the directions on how to adjust my govenor arm cause i want to cut a zero plate by mid next week.....Its already not enough

i've already gotten this advice. What do you guys think of this way???

"my personal favorite way to do this...

take ur plate out and open the throttle. u'll see the arm adjuster. adjust it a bit, reinstall ur plate and see it it's where u want it. if not repeat. i like it this way cuz i'm not trying to pretzel my big fat head and fingers into a place built for pygmies. and it's a hell of a lot harder to drop something in the pump this way. that adjuster screw has been known to fall out during adjustment and land in the pump. ask lance (oldsmokey94) about it. this way u can keep an eye on it."

If you want to adjust your governor arm, just remove the fuel filter!!! Even my meathooks can get in there to adjust the governor arm with little effort. I personally don't think you need to adjust it that much especially with a zero plate. Once the rack hits the end plug, it won't matter how much you slide the plate or move the lever.

Gotcha.. Well without the plate in there, how do you know if you hit it or not?? You have to pull up the fuel solenoid lever first so that the lever will come out and stay there.

Check out Piers Diesel, they have a tech article on how to adjust the arm. Do take off the fuel filter, it will make it MUCH easier. Use small vice grips to remove the two screws that hold on the cover plate, replace them with standard hex bolts so if you have to get in there again, it will be easier. You will need a 10MM deep socket to get to the lock nut. Facing the engine, turning the adjusting screw clockwise will raise the arm. A small mirror and flashlight will be handy.
