govenor arm question?

If the govenor arm isn't reaching the fuelplate what kind of symptoms (if any) would it produce. Does it matter if it doesn't follow the plate as long as it doesn't go under it?

The arm only touches the plate at WOT or under load normally so it goes to say if you don't floor it it doesn't matter where the arm is adjusted, which plate you have, or if it's pushed forward or not.

Most important is the arm shouldn't go under the plate

plow.....did u do the adjustment with ur fuel shut down solenoid in the "up " position? if u didnt then u can't see where the lever arm would touch....it may very well drop right under the plate when u floor it so test it with the "up" position....i love 12 valves for this....u can basically not even have a plate in there and u can still get the same fuel economy because u can control the amount of rack travel with ur foot

yes i did do the adjustment with it in the up position but when you work the throttle to see where exactly the arm is hitting it will only touch the plate once and then back away alittle and never touch the plate again even when i hold the throttle wide open. is the arm supposed to stay in contact with the plate during the adjustment?

no, only when quickly stabbed....observe the contact pattern by performing quick stabs several times, or do it when the engine is off with the fuel sol energized. It WILL contact a little higher when the engine is running, which is how I check it.
