when put in 4 wheel, front axel will turn, not sure about the shift motor, i took it off & seemed to work, doesnt seem like there is any vacuum there. i do not know a thing about it. this is a 94 3500. please help thanks! bob

Yup that sounds like a vaccuum issue... Sorry I dont have a 4WD truck so I can't be of much help, but I'm sure someone will chime in here.

Do a search on vacuum leaks and 4wd on here and you should find all you need to know. Most have gone with something like Posi-loc, I am planning on converting mine this summer.

I had some what the same issue .Had knocked of a vacuum line at front of transmission cross member .There are 2 metal lines across front of this .2 plastic lines are connected 2 this by rubber connectors .Plastic lines are inside a loom and run from there back to a manifold on top of transfer case.
On mine red has vacuum to release ,black to engage .hope this helps.
