good turbo housing?

good turbo housing?

I wish i could afford a new turbo, but i can only afford a housing right now, so i was wondering which one would be best for me, on top of what is in my sig i will be having 100hp injectors with my truck and gauges. thanks.

I would go with a 16 cm housing. Cheap and pretty good response on a stock HX35 turbo.

okay where could i find one of these and what else do i need to buy with it? are they very hard to change? sorry for all the ?s i never messed with turbos

well if you find one you have to figure out whether or not it is a hx-40 style housing. if so you need to realize the down pipe will have to be changed as well

If you are fitting up to the stock HX turbo, finding one is pretty easy and they go for around $160. My HX had the elbow banded to the housing, so switching the housings would have no affect on the exhaust.

Getting the old housing off is the challenge, but not impossible. A good soaking of your favorite penetrating oil on the housing, a short piece of 2 x 2 and a 5 lb hammer otta do it. Some guys use the bolts in the housing to press against the compressor housing on the other side to push it off. Never tried it. I just hit the housing in a criss-cross pattern and spun the wheel every couple of whacks to make sure I wasn't binding the wheel. Comes off pretty easy actually.
