does anyone know if the boot on the fuel shutoff selenoid can be bought seperately as the yuma dodge dealer wants over $ 600.00 for a new unit. the boot on my selenoid got rotten and stuck in the spring and would not let the selenoid open. after cleanig it up it is working again but should a boot on it.

never seen just the boot for sale but you should try this buy some nice thick rubber gloves and cut a couple of the fingers off and zip tie a few of the fingers over where the boot used to be. a good temp fix. You should be able to get one aftermarket for around 250 give or take

You can make a boot from the tube of an old bike tire and some cable ties.

The price is kind of steep but you can also buy get a replacement boot from here...(as well as a bunch of other goodies you should probably pick up at the same time):

I haven't had one for nearly a half million miles. About once a year I have to take it off, clean the plunger and bore and reinstall. Totally unneeded part.

Totally unneeded part.
If it was unneeded then you wouldn't have to remove and clean the solenoid at all
About 250k miles on both my rigs and I've never cleaned mine.
Did replace the boot with a bicycle tube back in the trucks' younger days when they first started falling apart though.
My experience is the bike tube lasts longer than the the OEM boot.

Tip for working on the solenoid is to turn the key on and lift it up before removing till you get it up where you can get your hands on it.
Keeps parts from flying.

OK, wrong word. How about unnecessary? With the usage mine gets I'd be pulling it apart on a regular basis removing the torn up boots anyway.
