Fuel plate question
My question is about buying a new fuel plate for my '97 clubcab dually 4X4..12V engine...its bone stock except for muffler removal..and has 250000 miles on the engine. as it is..I get 23..24 mpg with this truck but it lacks a bit of power...it has new stock clutch..tranny..transfer case..starter..alt..etc and is in excellant cond.
I've been looking at a #5 plate but won't do anything til I hear from the ' the people that know ' on here....
Thanks guys...

A #5 plate will really wake it up. The clutch should be ok if you keep rpm above 2000 after the shift .
My 95 got its best mileage with a 5 plate. 2-3 better than stock, but you already are doing great at 23-24.

I got a 95 with a #5 in it. I think you will like it very much. Really wakes it up. Just make sure that you install a boost control elbow in the turbo to up boost pressure and get a set of gauges. with mine I was able to hit about 38 psi and about 1300* with no load and that was all stock except for the plate. If I am pulling a trailer, egts can get toasty but only if I really hammer on it. Just have to watch my gauge. Hope this helps.
