Fuel leak

I've got an extremely bad fuel leak. It's trickling (yes you read right... much more that just a drip) off of the bellhousing. The bottom of the fuel filter canister is dry, but it's coming from somewhere right in that area. I can't see where exactly, and the rain just started coming down hard so that put an end to my investigation. Any suggestions on where to look next?

Well, it appears to be coming from a line running along the bottom of the intake manifold. What line is thins and what's the best way to go about changing it?

If it is leaking under the intake manifold then it is most definately the return line and they can be a little tough to change but nothing you cant handle with a few hand tools and some patience.

Yeah, the red line... that's it. Mine's a hard line though, and they look to be selling soft line. Maybe I can just cut it with a tubing cutter and clamp the soft line on?

I'll be changing it this weekend. Do I need to bleed the fuel system after I'm done, or just pump the little button under the filter canister (or is that one in the same)? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a diesel newb!

Where exactly is the hard line? If its the one on the bell housing you should just bypass it all together and run soft line all the way to the tank. Supply is 3/8 and return is 5/16.

It appears to be a hard line running underneath the manifold (the one pictured is definitely it), but it's hard to really see.

it should turn to soft hose just behind the IP and in front of the fuel filter, i usually reach in behind the IP with a nut driver and get the clamp loose and rerun the soft hose, but if yours is hard it will still change where it runs over the bell housing to braided steel. so just replace the section that is leaking with rubber i have done this on many leaking 12 valves.

Well I changed it successfully. I didn't order the hoses from the site that was reccomended, as I needed them immediately, so I spoke with an acquaintance who is a hose salesman and he gave me a reccomendation. It wasn't quite as difficult as I thought it might be, and I know my way around that part of the engine bay a whole lot better now! Thanks again everybody! You were a big help!

Sounds like the return line to me, I had to change mine about 1500 miles ago. not to hard. little tight in the back though.
