fuel filter leaking

OK, this is my dad's truck, its a 1995 and he says that the water drain on the filter is leaking. Is this a common problem? Is this valve a dealer only part? Is there a filter that you can use to replace the filter that has a regular drain in it?

I tried searching but it isn't working for me

Thanks, Aaron

Most times it's just a piece of crud hanging it up and cleaning is the fix.

Thanks for the info. It appears that the drain valve is the same as the 1st gens, which means i've got an extra. Just in case cleaning it doesn't work.

Is the filter a Purolater? I've had problems twice with these filters. The threads that the sensor screws into on the bottom of the filter on both occasions were not square with the filter housing. This caused the sensor to thread in cockeyed to the point that the O-ring wouldn't seal. Took the filter back to where I got it and got another one. Problem solved.

Bananas!
