Starting in Park
Starting in Park
My 97 Dodge Diesel is only starting about 1/3 of the time in Park. It will always start in neutral. I have replaced the neutral safety switch with no change. When it doesn't start in park - it will only start in neutral - I have tried moving the gear shift all the way through the gears and back to park with no luck in getting the starter to kick over. The batteries, cables and starter are all good.
Adjust the shift linkage. I'm battling this right now, my linkage is pretty rusty, and the bushings are worn, so I can't get the adjustment spot on.
I used a Haynes manual for the adjustment procedure.
