front timing gear cover crack?
I don't have a picture handy ( i am sure someone will chime in with one) it occurs on the gear housing similar in location to where your fan hub is , that is the area to look. The crack is caused by a dowl pin than can vibrate out and jam in the timing gears , a bad bad bad situation...
Pictures of a typical crack here

If it ain't broke when you buy it you can "kill the dowel" pin KDP and it won't be a problem. (If it hasn't been done already.
) About a 4 beer, 4 hour job. Pretty easy just wrenching.
first thing after getting a 12V is to make sure killer dowel pin gets fixed.
timing cover by itself has no cracking problem, but if KDP backs out. it may or may not destroy your timing cover and/or gears.
cam has to come out to replace timing cover. you don't even want to go there...
