engine noise

i soon will advance my truck but i wanted to address an issue i've had since i've changed out the injectors with 370 marine injectors. After, it warms up it doesn't make the usual diesel rattle you're used to hearing from the 12v, it's more of a chugging sound. i thought maybe i've lost a cylinder so i cracked each injector, but the tone change each time( which means the injectors are good right?) it also shakes the truck quite a bit at idle, it clears up after the rpm reaches about 1800 rpms. it's not like i have a loss of power, there is plenty of it, but it's like the truck just isn't running very smooth. I was wondering if retarded timing would cause this( i already checked all the valve clearance, all are good now), or am i looking at more serious problem thanks guys, i appreciate the help, i don't know what i'd do without you.

at first the #1 was leaking, but i tighten it up a bit and it stopped. I used the washers that came with the injectors(the 370's) i don't know what size. can the size of washers make a big difference, i still have a stutter at 1200 rpm(very common with the 370's im told) i hope the timing advance will stop this, i thought the new delivery valves would help, but they didn't stop it completely. if the washers make a big difference, what size should i use? thanks for the quick response, i appreciate it.

Yes the washers thickness determines the spray pattern of the injectors. I had some injectors leaking once and it caused my engine to run alittle rough at idle, replaced the crush washers and idled smooth out. My cpl number for my engine called for the thinnest washers, sorry I don't know what size they are. I have read that some other guys have a stumble but personally I have never experienced it.
