diesel adapter plate on engine different auto/stick?

I am pulling a manual tranny to replace an auto, there is an aluminum adapter plate that the starter goes through. The adapter fits between the engine and bellhousing.
Is this a stick only adapter, and therefore needs to be pulled as well to make the swap happen.
Thanks

Pretty sure it is a conversion plate when you go to the big aftermarket flywheel.

Neither my Auto nor my Manual truck has a removable spacer, but I know I have read where when you put an aftermarket flywheel in like you would get from SBC, there is a roughly 1/2" thick spacer you need to get the flywheel teeth to engage properly.

that spacer is only if you put a 6 speed flywheel in a truck with an original 5 speed. The new updated big 13" clutch for a 5 speed truck already comes with the teeth on the flywheel spaced different so you dont need a spacer.

if it has a 5 speed and spacer, good chance it has a 13" clutch in it and maybe a 1 3/8" input shaft

It is on a stock 5 speed that I assume has never had a clutch, as the one I removed is worn and the truck only has 106,100 miles. '98 motor and tranny

sounds to me like you are talking about the entire transmission adapter, (bolted to the engine, and trans bolts to it) if thats the case, there is no difference between the auto and manual 5spd, the 6spd manuals dohave a different adapter but you dont have to worrie about that

Exactly the adapter plate I was talking about Dodgetrucker75. As long as auto and 5 speed share the same adapter plate I am golden.
Thanks Guys
