Question Chevy Master Cylinder Upgrade?

I've heard that a 1990 Chevy 454 1 ton master cylinder will bolt up to my truck, providing better braking power.

Is this truly a bolt up mod, and does it make a noticable difference?

Thanks!

Use Napa #4637337 wheel cylinders, about $13 each.
This number will cross at most any auto parts store.

Yes, the rear wheel cylinder from the GM 1 ton is a bolt up. I had to, with mine, shave some tabs back with a grinder wheel to make it fit. It only added 10 minutes per side to changing brake shoes. Good upgrade if you are working on the brakes anyway, not, in my opinion, worth tearing into the brakes just for the upgrade...

In that case I seriously doubt a chevy master cylinder will just bolt up, maybe if you use the chevy brake booster also. I really don't think the chevy master cylinder will bolt to the dodge brake booster. Do you even know if the chevy master cylinder is bigger?

I was told by EGR brakes that the Chevy master cylinder would flow more fluid and eliminate the spongy pedal.. Making a noticeable difference.. I was seeing if anyone else had done it.

Mike, I have disks all the way around. I'll look into the 02 master cylinder.

I doubt it would work on a Pre-97 truck vaccum assit brake equiped truck. 97-up had Hydro-boost systems.

Yeah I guess a 90 chevy 1-ton had hydro assist too, but the vacuum assist can be converted to hydro easy enough. If it was worth it of course.

So does anybody know for sure if the chevy master cylinder would bolt to the dodge hydro-booster?
