Catalytic converter filler pipe
Does anyone know if any suppliers carry a filler pipe to take up the space once the catlytic converter is removed. That conver is, or appears to be, 2 1/2" on the engine side and 4" where it dumps into the muffler. ;D

Thanks

I have the Mopar part #, it is converter test pipe 529019170AB. Don't know the price but as long as you have the # you could call your local ******* and ask. I'll look around for another # and get back to you.
Re:Catalytic converter filler pipe
If the number richard gave you doesn't work, try P52019170AB; costs right around $50.00.

Some guys have been given a hard time by the parts people when ordering it, and some haven't. When I ordered mine I didn't give the nomenclature, I just told them I needed to order the part number. When the parts person rattled off that it was some sort of exhaust pipe, I just said "yep." A couple of days later it was ready for pickup. It was a real bear to get the cat off....RamminOn can tell ya, he helped me get it done.

Just looking at that cat I have the distinct impression it's already laughing at me
. Does not look like it will be easy. But, It WILL come off. I have to go over to Dodge tomorrow morning and get a set of seals I ordered so I can fix the dreaded KDP. I'll order one of these as well.

Thanks ;D

The crank seal # is cummins part# 3804899.
The front gear case cover gasket # is cummins part#3918673
If possible, go to a Cummins dealer, they will be about 30% cheaper on these parts than Dodge

I do not have a torch and since emissions testing is required annually where I live, no shop will touch the cat. I have the "test" pipe and took it to a muffler shop and asked if they would install it. When I told them what it was for I was asked to leave, heck I even offered to pay cash and no receipt
Re:Catalytic converter filler pipe
1tuffram, If you are determined to remove the Cat take a Sazall Recipro an cut it off with that. Keep in mind that if you have emmissions inspections it will need to be replaced. We are still lucky in Calif and don't have them for Diesels. When you get ready to sell or trade it must be replaced.

I don't blame the shops for not touching your torch job. Here the state sends around inspectors to shops requesting some illegal work. When they start the work they make the "Bust". Some have lost their BAR License and paid stiff fines.

Knowing your location would help in answering your question.
Re:Catalytic converter filler pipe
Taking the cat off an older stock exhaust without cutting or torching can be a difficult task.
I decided to gut my cat converter a while back, but wanted to leave the cat in place to give that stock look. (For inspections and such).
After an hour or two of heating the converters exhaust flange and pounding the converter to get it to slide off the down pipe, it finally came off.
Then, we (friend and I) spent another 2 to 3 hours trying to get all the catalyst out of it.
(By the way, we left the cat connected to the muffler and tail section of the exhaust. We used the handle of a floor jack to pound all the catalyst lose)
We then replaced the cat back on the turbo down pipe and reclamped the exhaust flange.
It was a lot of work, but the end result gives me a stock looking exhaust with no cat.
Rich.
