Boosted Launch and BOOM!

Well, I went out today and like many times before did a 4x4 boosted launch from a stop sign down an empty back road. As I was applying throttle the boost jumped up to 20lbs and bang!!! something let go and the truck just coasted. The transmission lever moved smoothly through the gears and as I pulled it from neutral to drive I could feel a little bump like the trans was engaging. When I tried to put it in park it just made a grinding noise like the transfer case was in neutral, does this sound like a toasted transfer case?

It will be a while, buying a new to me truck tomorrow, then I'll pick away at it when I feel motivated.
