Boosted Launch With Handshaker

i did a search on this and found one were d.wiggs said something about using the e-brake to build boost. but i talked to a guy and he was telling me to just sit there and rev to the limiter and hold it there and eventually your boost will start to build.
sounds wierd but i tried and found that my truck for what ever reason has no limiter? because it went straight past 4000 and didn't seem like it wanted to stop so i held at 3200 for what seemed like for ever but maybe truely a minute or so and i saw nothing. no smoke no boost nothing, any tips?

These trucks will only build real boost against pressure.

looking at ur sig I see no clutch upgrade.... unless ur running a dual disk I'd be really careful... lots of people have welded clutches together slipping them like that

Agreed and you can do the same with a DD if you slip it enough.

I can build some boost with mine just by goin form around 2500 to 3000 and tappin the throttle up and down.

Once again, you 3rd gen guys with your free flowing heads. My truck makes positive pressure around 1500, 1lb around 2000 and 5lbs around 3000 and never wanted to try launching higher than that but I imagine 7 lbs or so around the rev limiter.

Banshee has one of the fastest 6speeds I've heard of. He also took the handshaker purse in Commerce this weekend. I was fortunate enough to have him let me mount an in-cab camera for one of his launches. You can see how he builds boost. You can also see him forget to put it in 4WD.

Its in the video there somewhere. Just give your computer time to start it.

Video here.

I know my 5speed 2nd gen dodge pulled 2.5's in the 60ft and now my 3rd gen AUTOMATIC pulls 1.9's. The boost you build with a 5 or 6 speed is nothing compared to building 20lbs or more with a automatic......

Without major traction adders, you can't launch at over 5 psi with a hand shaker, it has no give and it will just spin till you let off. An auto with a little slop and slushiness lets you launch at 20 psi and still maintain some level of traction.

i do have an after market clutch but it is just a single puck style clutch. the guy said it would handle all the power i would throw at it, but just don't hook to a sled.

Dont slip it then or it will weld itself to the flywheel.

I wouldnt even attempt a boosted launch what so ever with a SD if you want it to last at all.

You are not going to build boost in neutral just revving it so don't feel bad. It will need some kind of pressure from say the brakes (foot on all 3 pedals)
