The shaft and gear must be clean enough to eat off before you torque the nut down to 150 ft/lbs.
I use spray electronic cleaner because it leaves no residues.
Putting anything on the shaft including LocTite will cause the gear to slip.
If you're having to fix slipped timing more than once replace the washer also.
Do not overtorque, I've seen 175 ft/lbs crack the gear, then it really slips.
