i have k/n in my 93 and i have too re oil it all the time ... is there a better filter to use ?????????????????????? i am going to bliud a air intake for my 95 but want the filter first . open th old girl up

 

Just search around for BHAF and air filter heat shield. There's actually a part # for the original filter that was eventually called the Big Honkin' Air Filter, ie BHAF. I don't know what it is, though. I used an Amsoil #4510 filter for my BHAF. It's a dry cleanable filter. All you do is blow it off with low pressure air. The only thing I'd recommend if you take the BHAF route, is get one of those Outerwears filter socks to go over it.

 

I have a green filter and made my own heat shield out of some roof flashing and rivets. filter and heat sheild costed me $65 total very easy to do and extremely cost effective.

 

Are you following K&N's instructions?
You shouldn't have to re-oil it until the filter minder moves down or 100k miles.
Both my trucks have K&Ns ,are nearing 300k each and the filters have only been serviced twice.
Just looking at a filter is very poor indication if it needs cleaning/replacing.
