bad oil leak

i have a oil leak coming from the drivers side of the engine.I have it all tore down trying to pin point it and cant i have replaced the timing cover gasket and front seal.valve cover gaskets and now i am going to replace the vacum pump gasket and the oil pan gasket.hoping this will fix it just looking fo more info. itr loses a gallon about every 50 miles or so.Its a different motor than was in the truck it sat for about 2 or 3 years before i got it so far everything i have changed has been leaking some.My question is whats the chances of the head gasket being bad and leaking from there. But i dont no if it will just leak oil and not antifreeze thanks for the halp guys

To lose that much oil it must be fed from an oil gallery.
Check the oil sending unit near the PS pump.

Check where the timeing case atatches to the block. When I tabbed my KDP I found that tha mounting bolts had come loose and a peice of the gasket had broken and pushed out. I ended up loosening the mounting bolts and stuffing as much silicone in the area where the gasket was missing and retourqued the bolts. So far so good It hasn't started leaking again.

Yes the sender can leak that much. Mine puked a couple quarts. That's when I started asking on the boards and confirmed it does happen to others. Your pressure gauge usually gets screwy first.

Another place is the oil line on the p-pump
Another is the lifter gallery cover. When the KDP jig was popular, a lot of people blew out the seal pressurizing the crank case.

one of your original questions. A bad head gasket usually does not leak that much oil.

thanks for the input. i will check that sending unit.I read on another post that a guy accidently left his oil cap off and this slowed his leak down.so i decided to try it but instead of removeing the cap all together.i just took the rubber washer off and retightened the oilpan bolts it is leaking less now but still leaking

Mine did something like that, leaked like heck from the vacuum pump, lots of oil like you said, I had to reseal the vacuum pump, got the kit on ebay. The other thing that might leak like that is the little oil line that screws onto the vacuum pump, I also had that come loose on me once idiling in the driveway and man did that make a BIG puddle in a hurry. if you idle it and crawl underneath the drivers side and look up at the vacuum pump you should be able to see it easily. Hope this helps I hate leaking anything.

Did you have vacuum related problems while it was blowing oil from the vacuum pump seal? Like ABS, HVAC, 4WD and cruise problems?
