Don't blame ya 12vrollincole!
Mines a daily driver AND work truck so I spend alot of time in it. If this area was flat and open I would be able to control the straight pipe some but we're really hilly, mountainous and urban out here. You have to really sound off just to run down and get a few groceries.
My exhaust is so mixed matched now I'm ready to strip it all. Thanks to all with good muffler recommendations, I don't think the one I have is straight thru, hence super quiet with higher egts.

I have the MBRP 5", no cat. Loud as all get out, I love it. But now I have to leave at 530 in our neigborhood, and will have a baby soon. You can hear my truck in everyroom of the house. I want to quiet it down some, no to stock by any means. Is the donaldson still louder than stock?

I know its not a muffler, but a turn-down on the end of the exhaust makes the sound a little less aggressive. The direction to the ground seems to keep the rasp to a minimum but still get all the roar at WOT...

I agree a glass pack just doesn't work on a diesel, and they sound like crap on a regular gas burner, I couldn't imagine how bad they would sound on a diesel. If you want a muffler at least get a muffler designed for a diesel engine.

I'm in a neighborhood with alot of people who 'could care less'. I'm partially trying to set a good example about respect, especially for the kids trying to sleep for school the next morning. These are the same neighbors I might one day have to count on in a time of need.
That said, the straight pipe does sounds mean for sure! Toned down 50% would be extra cool. Wish we could link to a soundbite of the MBRP next to the Donaldson.
I don't know who makes my current muffler, it's for a diesel application and sold as a 'free flow' muffler but awfully quiet. About the size of a dang 55 gallon drum too!
