Adjusting throttle position sensor. WAY off.

So since I got my truck a year ago it has never had a functional kickdown. After reading up on it I figure I will check and adjust my TPS. I go through all the work to get my jumpers hooked up and get like 0.1 Volts at idle, then 2.2-2.3 Volts at wide open.

I disconnect the TPS from the motor and with it plugged into the harness, I can run it through its range of motion and its all smooth and goes the full 0-5 volts through its range of motion.

Any ideas?

When I pulled the TPS off I noticed that there is just a metal blade that engages the TPS, and the TPS has a pretty big opening that allows a lot of slop before any movement of the throttle means any movement of the sensor.

Is this normal? Should there be a spacer or bushing in between the TPS and the throttle lever on the pump? Anyone have a parts diagram of this part of the truck?

The best I can do you is this http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/970/repair.htm
I don't recall anything inbetween the TPS and linkage.

Thats a little help. I will look into the measurements tomorrow when its daylight.

Also my TPS looks like the last illustration (Fig 11) not the earlier illustrations. Were the parts that were changed change the clocking of the TPS? Mine has the connector facing 45 degrees to the right from straight down as shown in Fig 11, not straight down as shown in the first illustrations. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Also just double checked with my MTG2500 and yes, its 0.1 volts at idle and 2.25 volts at WOT.

It does look worn on the edges. I think there is a bushing kit for that particular pin as they replaced that on my father-in-laws rig when they rebuilt the tranny just as a precaution.

So the edges of that blade are supposed to be chamfered and not straight/flat?
