Adjusting 7100 pump correctly

I have a 96 with a 215 12 valve, manual trans 4x4. I have a cold air intake, PDR HX35 turbo, non wastegated 16cm exhaust housing, 4" turbo back, #10 plate half forward star wheel 2/3 forward, and timing set at 15*.
I'm trying to get it tuned were I have good power and very little smoke (The wife hates getting pulled over for the smoke). It runs out pretty good now but I feel it could be tuned better for less smoke and better milage. I am considering putting in new injectors, AFC spring kit and adjusting valves. What other things in the pump can I adjust to dial it in better? Any help would be appreiciated.

Put the afc housing in the stock position and turn the starwheel back towards the rear till you can live with the smoke. You don't need new injectors or a spring kit but your 16 cm housing is going to cause slower spool up and hence more smoke.
I've tried 18 and 16 cm housings but settled on a 14 for best all around performance.

I have the housing in basically were it was stock (not sure because I had a shop do the original turn up on the truck and they fubared it royally). If I turn it back were the smoke is almost gone the truck is a real dog. I went to the 16cm because my EGT's were going through the roof. My reasoning for changing the injectors is I think I have one leaking down. I figured if I was going to remove them I might as well up grade. I have it were I can live with it but I just can't help but think there is more tuning to be done to get it better. I have seen trucks that make mine look like a turtle and they don't put out half the smoke I do.

Increase the timing,

that will increase your pickup on the truck, try a 16 or 17 degree, From what you say your truck should be running harder, it cannot be a turtle with those mods, But with the starwheel all the way back, its gonna slow turbo spool and decrease the fuel going in, Like infidel said just try to play with the afc till ur happy.. best of luck.. most trucks ur seein that make urs look slow are computer controlled probably.. Welcome to DTR! please put ur rig info in ur sig so we can faciliate in helping you!.

PS save urself some time too and make this ur homepage

Apologize on the signature, I haven't had chance to get back to putting it up yet. Actually I leave alot of the 24v's in the dust (probably stockers though). Thanks for the advise, I'll keep playing with it and see if I can't get it dialed in better.

It will be tough to keep the power up and the smoke down with that 16cm housing.....as Infidel mentioned, the 14cm would be a better choice. IMO, I don't think you will find a desirable setting on your AFC as long as you have that 16cm housing.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.....

I was looking at your signature CTD NUT, how bad does your's smoke? Other than the auto trans your set-up pretty much the same as I am. How much of an overall differance did the DV's and 370's make?

The combo of the 370's, 191 dv's, and #100 plate are a recipe for a lot of fuel!! Keeping the smoke down and the power up at low boost is a challenge, to say the least. 191 dv's and 370's are a match made in heaven and an awesome combo for big power but definitely the wrong direction to go if smoke is a big issue. I would also suggest a bigger and better turbo than a 16cm HX35 - it just isn't enough to keep egt's cool......I control egt's with my right foot and keep a mindful eye on the pyro when towing but would much prefer a better turbo.

With the AFC set up to make good bottom end power it is smokey......lower the smoke level, lower the bottom end power.
