97 3500 Hard Starts When Hot, Fine When Cold?

Truck fires great when cold but get the engine warm and it cranks forever to fire. I'm thinking the IP needs a good reseal but what's your opinions?

I've done the reseal on VE's but not on a P7100. What's the seal kit part # and where can I find a write-up or rebuild manual? Any specific tools required? Have everything to do the rotory pumps just kind of uncertain here in this. Thanks alot.

Unlike the VE's the P7100's don't have a keyway in the IP shaft so occasionally the timming does slip, and as far as a (reseal) I personnally have never come across one or heard of anyone having to.

Not saying it couldn't happen but I've just never seen it or I'm just ignorant to your terminology.

Very cool, Thanks for the link. I have a dial indicator just wasn't sure if there was an actual timing mark on the shaft or housing to lign up for a rough idea?

The truck runs out great, no loss of power, no smoke, just hard starts when hot. If you run a garden hose over the IP for 2 minutes it fires on the first crank.
