i am looking to buy a 1996 2500 4x4 the owner told me he was going down the free way when a trany line let go and ran the trany out or fluid he said when it began to act up he puled over and shut it down and had it towed home. no with the new trany line on and fluid in the trany he said it will shift 123 with no slipping but wont go in to 4th does any one have any ideas. is it just the fact the trans is shot or is there a sensor that wont let it go into 4th thanks for any help

 

If they run out of fluid for even a minute the tranny is toast.
Plan on at least $3000, preferably $5000 to rebuild it.
