94 vs. 95 power

I'm looking at buying my dad's 94 3500 4x4, it's bone stock. compared to my 95 2500 4x4, it seems very slow and gutless. the truck has been that way since new. so I know it's not in poor shape. It's been well taken care of and in great shape. My 95 has had some mods, but I can't believe how much slower the 94 is. Just wondering if 94's had any differences than 95's in hp or torque ratings. Is it timing or something?

IIRC those years were the same. Drawing a blank right now..... Are they both standard or auto or are they different? The auto's have 160 pumps vs the 180 on the 5spd. Also, are the gears the same? Timing should be 12.5* on both. All of these specs are listed on the timing case so go take a look and confirm your suspicions. I once drove a 94 reg cab dually bone stock with an auto.....

Yep, they are both autos. They are pretty much the same truck when new.

A plate and a GSK would make a huge difference, but stock for stock some trucks run better than others.

I test drove a 94 2wd 5 speed with 440k on it , that would have run circles around my Fathers truck all day long if i wanted it to , both were bone stock.

I had a new 1992 Harley FXSTS and I wouldtake it to the sdealer for the routine maintenence checks. They always swore I had a cam in it because it was so fast. It was that way when I bought it. It was always bone stock. I guess it was just put together on a day when nobody had a hang over. From that point on I always thought there is a difference in engines of the same type.

They have different power,m at the same hp rating.... dont know why

TheBigNasty: The manual 94 and 95 has a 175 hp pump

The only two differences i know made from 94 to 95 on the engine is,
1) The line that goes to the afc housing, 94 is steel, 95 is plastic
2) The overflow valve... The 94 has a ball pressed into it, the 95's has a bolt in it to take apart) i stretch the spring a bit.... it helps here...

Thanks guy's. I'll try all the same mods to the 94 as I did to the 95 and see how much it helps. Maybe I did forget how slow my 95 was.

I dont think he's arguing about 5hp. The 180 pump is quite a bit better of a pump than the 175 In my opinion.
