Cold!!! No Lockup???

It finally just got in the single digits here in New York and now i dont have lockup and also seems to start in 2nd. The tranny is getting plenty warm on the gauge but still wont fix lockup. I have a 96 with a bd valvebody. Is it the cold? I'm also thinking now that i put that thick Lucas additive to the tranny when i did the valvebody. Any ideas?

I know mine won't go into lockup till the tranny temp warms up. Usually takes about two miles of driving from a cold start when the temps fall below 50 deg.

You say you have a gauge.
What happened to the stock one when you installed the aftermarket one?
The stocker may be reading too low if it was moved/removed.

Early '96s had a sender on the outlet line to the cooler. Driver's side a foot or so ahead of the tranny. I've heard of folks swapping the stock sender for the new one and just taping the stocker up to the outside of the line. Well it works, until it gets cold. The way to do it correctly is to remove the stock sender from it's plug and jump across it with a 1000 ohm resistor. Tricks the computer into thinking the fluid is warmed up.
On older '96s the sender is internal.
'96 is a strange year. Besides having two different trannies it is the only one that needs a dealer computer reflash in order to make a manual lock up switch work. You might consider having the dealer do this.

The autometer sending unit is tapped right into the pan.
