94 CTD --Auto tranny longevity ??
My son-in-law is looking at a 94 4 x4 with the auto . Nearly 170000 miles on it. We know the owner and it has never pulled anything except occationally a 18 ft. boat . What sort of life can you expect out of that transmission without any heavy pulling ?
Also , what is the rated horsepower on a 94 / auto ?

Re:94 CTD --Auto tranny longevity ??
I think my first reply was lost. The stock '94 is 160 HP.
I got over 200,000 miles on my auto before rebuilding, and then I did it as preventive maintenance.
I could slip the TCC, but I had to try.

Don't let the SIL BOMB that truck, and it should go for a long while. Even If you have to rebuild, you will be buying a lot of low cost miles.
george

I just replaced mine with a 147,000 on it and it worked perfectly I just wanted a stronger trans and a lower stall converter. You just can't imagine the difference that makes the thing with high mile you can save a lot of money off of the price of the truck because of the high miles. What I saved was more than enough to pay for the trans.
