8mm Shutdown Solenoid Screw question

Guys..

I was able to remove the screws off of my rusted out fuel plate a while back. I used the mighty screwdriver and hammer method and some WD40. My question is, to get to the AFC housing, there is an 8MM screw that is behind the Injector pump that holds the Fuel shutdown solenoid, I wanna ask, is that screw really nessesary?or can i just run the shutdown solenoid with the screws that hold down the AFC housing and the Shutdown solenoid.. the reason i ask is cause that sucker is usually the worst one to remove and tamper with.

Thanks!

Tx

On my 95 its not that hard to get at. I am missing both screws you wanna use only, mine are both broke off the afc , and there are 2 roll pins holding it in place in the housing holes along with the one in back. the one in back seems to keep it from moving about to much. Id say youd be ok with the others. But............ like Infidel says.

I've found that most manufacturers don't give you extra parts if they aren't needed.
If you're talking about the bolt that is down low, I never remove it, loosening it is all that is needed, the solenoid bracket will pivot out of the way of the housing.

I replaced it w/ an allen headed bolt. much easier to get to! I probably would have left it off, but I only had one of the bolts on top in place (one was stripped! )

I have one missing from the top of the AFC housing

Due to it bein a pita to get off, hammer, screwdriver chisel and WD40 to get it out, no big issues there, just that one that seems to be a PITA, ill just loosen it and live with it.. thanks..
