Hi 8mm to PC to DVD

So i have a lot of film of my son playing football on my Sony Hi 8mm tapes and want to know how to transfer them to my PC so i can edit them and burn them to a DVD.
the camera has the usual 3 plug 1 video and 2 audio plugs. It also has a Super video plug and i know if i use this i won't get any audio.
Is there an adapter i can get to transfer them to my PC?
Thanks
scotte

Tv capture card. Basically gives you red/white/yellow inputs/s-video input for your pc. There are several internal cards for desktops or Usb for laptops/desktops. You'll need a good amount of hard drive space. Then some sort of software to edit it up. Windows Movie Maker for simple stuff or something like adobe premiere for higher end editing.

Sony has a high 8 (or digital 8) camera that uses USB to output to a computer. We have one at work that I use occationally. video is insanely small however.

Id say skip windows movie maker.. Even for a simple task. Its very slow, and produces extremely large video files.

Pickup any other video editing suite you can find if the tv card didnt come with one already. As mentioned, Adobe Premier is a great one.

Happy capturing!
