yes,but you should put the 48re pump stator in the 47RE trans, there is a snap ring/groove in the 48re's.

As stated, not without the pump stator from a 48RE pump.

Hi

I'm not too familiar with the snap ring groove or pump stator . I dont have the 48re tranny just the torque converter. I called a couple of tranny shops and they thought you could put the 48re tc on the 47re tranny. What exactly is the difference?. I dont wanna pull my tranny and find out it wont work. Thanks

Just like has been mentioned here. The 48RE TC won't work on a 47RE pump. At minimum you need the pump stator from a 48RE to put on your pump to use this TC.

The converters are the same. The only difference is the inside of the hub. The 48RE is smooth further down to allow for a sealing surface on for the "sealing ring" on the stator of the 48RE.

OK I have to tell ya. . .I dont know what a stator is so can you tell me what it is so I can see what I have to change. Is it something you can just unbolt and slap the one from a 48re tranny on? Will a salvage yard have one? Thanks.

OK,your going to need to take it to a trans shop, pay them an hrs labor or whatever they charge, because this is no place to mess up.Salvage yards want to sell there transmissions complete,or as cores, dont expect them to let you rob a good working transmission.Last i remembered, the sealing ring on the 48 pump wasnt available aftermarket or separately from chrysler, meaning that if you destroy yours you need to buy a complete pump from chrysler to get it.I think the 48 pump is around 250 dollars complete,it may have gone up though.

You can put the 48 TC in a 47, but to put a 47 TC in a 48 tranny you need to remove the "sealing ring" from the stator shaft. So in short put the 48 TC in your 47 and drive away happy!!!
