The truck had a rebuilt transfercase. but its like something in the front diff not working. i saw some hoses on the diff. Does the diff work off vacum. The transfercase is working cause you can put it in low . But the front end wont engage. does anybody have any idea what it might be.

yes vaccume...start at the dif and check the two hose there and follow them back to the transfer case and further if needed.....should be an easy, easy fix.

If you look at the front differential you will see a vacuum canister, there should be a two line vacuum connector on it. With the truck running and someone shifting in and out of 4WD you should be able to feel the vacuum switching from one line to the other. If not follow it back untill you find the problem.
