At the same time the 4x4 light does not go on anymore while I put it in 4 hi, which dfoes not engage but 4 Low works!!!! But still no 4x4 instrument light on either setting, has anyone had this before or think of what this could be, I am not a mecanic but the linkage seems like it is working and I only have 65,000 miles on it! Of course this happened right after I took it in for the lift pump replacement! Thanks!!!! its a 2001

The linkage is just out of ajustment. loosen the bolt on it and move it just aliittle and keep try it till you get it right. Works best with two people

 

Is the linkage under the body between the tranny and floor? Not too knowledgeable on this at all, thanks!!!

 

Do you have manual hubs or are they electric? when I got my 98 the indcator light wasn't working I thouhght that 4x4 wasn't working aslo. Put it in low and new transfer was shifting went to high took it on a tight turn radius to find out if front end was engaging. Bucked like a yearling. found that wiring harness on front end was unplugged. Might be your problem.

 

It's between the transfer and the handle, under the truck. Have some one move the handle while your under it, and you will see it.

 

When I put it into 4 hi it will not Buck at all no matter how tight I turn on dry road, but 4 Low bucks hard. I will check out the linkage and vaccuum lines today, also the 4X4 light does not come on at all in either 4x4 mode. Thanks for the help guys!!!!
