3000 GSK Done - Quetsions

Well I did my free 3000 GSK and have a few questions. First the motor will free rev well over 3000rpm. But in gear I get shifts at 2600 still. I got close to 3000rpm in 3rd but my EGT's forced me out of it. Also the truck seems to rev slow up to 1200-1400 rpm but then it takes off like a freight train almost like the power band moved up. I got to run to work, but what do you guys think? Sound like your 3000 GSK? Thanks.

it sounds like you need to do some fine tuning to the depth the governer spring retainer nut. I just did the free gsk on mine last week it took me 2 days of tuning a lot of reading here and I finally had to go buy washers that were about .055 thick as the .075 were too thick to make work right. You might find that you loosen or tighten the retainer nuts. I am not sure what way you should go someone will probably chime in and tell you. If not it is just a trial and error process untill you find the right combination.

When you take the gsk plug out & the oil runs out do you have to refill with oil or will it fill on its own.I know there is an oil feed line on the pump but how does the oil return back to the engine.Sorry for hijacking.

It's just engine oil, it will refill on its own. If you lost much I'd top off the oil.

I always park with the drivers side higher if I'm going into the pump.

I asked a similar question about the shifts in gear. Your trans is set to shift at 2600 rpm and therefore it shifts then. It won't defuel until it reaches around 3000 rpm. I can't help you with the slow revving in the lower rpms.

It is engine oil. Pull the dipstick and check the level. Add add engine if needed but you would have had to loose alot to make a real difference.

There is a drain plug (wish I knew that when I did mine) at the bottom back of the governor to drain out the excess oil... Other than that, the pump fills from the oil feed line and drains back to the sump out the front past the gear IIRC.. No need to worry about it..

Sure made a mess though...
