3000 GSK/ AFC Spring ?????'s

as you can see in my sig. I'm off to a decent bombing run, but I'd like just a little more to get me a little further away from my cuz's 02' overvalved banks powered dual wheeled truck. we're pretty close now & I'd like to put a little more ground between us when I mash the go pedal. what can I expect from the GSK? roughly how many rpm's will the cummins turn w/the 3000 rpm kit??? is there much, if any of a gain from the AFC spring kit???? I'm just itchin' for a set of 370's , but don't have the $$$$$ for the clutch I'd need shortly afterwards. also would the 191 dv's add any horses w/out the 370's to go w/them???? thanks in advance for any info. sincerely, Dusty

The 181's you have do pretty decent, I'd worry about'em later. The 3000rpm kit should give you about 2-300 more rpm. I'd go with a 3600 or a 4000kit.. but heavier valves springs are needed.

Re:3000 GSK/ AFC Spring ?????'s

thanks superduty,
$125-150 seems a little steep to me for 200-300 rpm's??? where can I get the 3600 rpm kit & about how much $ am I looking at?? I really didn't want the 4000 kit because of needing the heavier valve springs, but I'm definatly not going to pay that much for only 200-300 more rpm's guess I'll be getting some heavier valve springs after all. any info. on the AFC spring kit???? thanks again, Dusty
The benefit of the 3K GSK is not in the few hundred extra rpms you get, but rather in the fact that while your pump currently begins defueling around 2300rpm, the GSK will not cut the fuel back until 3200rpm or so.
This effectively gives you almost 1K more useable rpm.

BTW, you can get the 4K kit without the 60lb valve springs, just dont rev it past 3500rpm or so

I definitely agree with KWenner. The benefit of the 3000gsk is not in the 500 (3200rpm on mine), but in the defueling. The kit made almost as much seat of the pants difference as a stock plate slid forward. The truck feels MUCH better!
george ;D

Re:3000 GSK/ AFC Spring ?????'s

thanks for clearing that up for me, what do ya'll think about the stock clutch w/the GSK??? I think I could probably use the starwheel to adjust slippage to a minimumal amount, & possibly none at all, would you agree with that assumption???? thanks for the replies,

sincerely, Dusty

I don't think the GSK should have too much effect on your clutch... You are not getting any more torque with the kit, it's mainly an upper-rpm power increase. Although, with the #10 plate you are really pushing the stock clutch, and anything could put it over the edge... So I say go for the GSK and use common sense when driving
